Zachary C. Gilkey, the father of Victor and Herman Gilkey, died in Alamo on Monday evening from apoplexy. he has been in failing health for some months and it is thought that worry over the war indirectly led to his death. He was the son of William and Margaret Gilkey and was born Sept 16, 1848. Funeral services were held at the Alamo Christian Church on Wednesday afternoon.
